❓ Problem

Starting software has never been cheaper. Lovable has passed $600M in annualised run-rate revenue, up from around $500M in June, and Replit hit an estimated $525M annualised in April. Founders are generating prototypes at a frankly unhinged rate, with Lovable averaging roughly 200,000 new projects a day by March.

The catch is that most of those projects never become anything. Only about 4 in 10 apps ever built on Greta.sh reached a live URL. Of more than 14,300 Lovable users surveyed, just 10.7% reported direct product revenue. And only 32.5% of builders trust vibe coding for business-critical work, with just 9% actually using it there.

Here’s the kicker. The hard part isn’t the first 80%, it’s the last 20%. Cleanup specialists call it “credit burn”: the money founders pour into AI in the final 10-20% of a project, prompting in circles rather than shipping. Then there’s what gets shipped anyway. Escape found 2,038 highly critical vulnerabilities and 400+ leaked secrets across 1.4K vibe-coded apps. Founders don’t need another tool to start things. They need someone to finish them.

✅ Solution

Shipmate is a subscription service that pairs founders with a dedicated vibe coder who takes their half-built projects over the line.

The wedge is deliberately narrow: landing pages, internal tools and simple prototypes. One active project at a time keeps the scope sane and the builder focused. Angel Studios founder Jeff Harmon described exactly this setup on My First Million, in a segment titled “Having a personal vibe coder”. Shipmate productises it for founders who don’t have Harmon’s budget.

Market size

The alternative is expensive. Freelance software developers average around $73/hr at mid-level and ~$128/hr at senior level, before you factor in the time spent finding, vetting and managing them.
