Software creation has been handed to everyone. Software hosting has not.

Anyone can now describe an app in plain English and have it built in an afternoon. Lovable alone is seeing 200,000 new projects a day and has around 8 million users. Replit says 50 million people have used it. Base44, Bolt, v0 and Wabi add millions more. That is a creator base the size of a mid-tier social network, and almost none of them can read a diff.

Then they finish building and hit a wall. The only real home for software was designed for engineers: forks, branches, pull requests, merge conflicts, a terminal window. Ask someone who just shipped their first app what a detached HEAD state is and watch the light leave their eyes. GitHub's own front door is a README, a language bar and a Stars count, which is a scoreboard for a game these people are not playing.

The kicker is that the incumbent is not exactly nailing the basics either. GitHub went down for seven hours and 47 minutes on 17 August, with roughly one in five web and API requests erroring and about half of all raw content downloads failing outright. GitHub's own post-mortem calls it the second significant incident of that month and blames traffic hitting a new peak that a Central US component could not scale to meet. It is straining under 180 million-plus developers and 630 million repositories before you invite the other billion people to the party.

So you have tens of millions of new builders, a mountain of finished apps, and nowhere to put them that feels like it was built for a human. Most of these apps currently live at a random subdomain, get shared once in a group chat, and quietly die.

• Your profile is the product. A public shelf of everything you have made, with follows, comments and a hire-me link. Stars are a graveyard, a shelf is a shop window.
• One-click Remix. Anyone can take a working copy of your app into their own builder and change it. Attribution flows back automatically, so the original creator gets credit and traffic every time someone builds on their work.

The wedge is deliberately narrow: give one non-technical builder a beautiful home for the five apps they have already made. The platform underneath, storage plus previews plus remix plus identity, expands into the whole distribution layer for AI-built software.

• The vibe coding tools market hit an estimated $4.7 billion in 2026, growing at 38% a year, with forecasts of $12.3 billion in 2027. That is the spend on making the apps. Nobody is monetising where they live.
