The Idea: In 2012, Kayla Itsines was a 21-year-old personal trainer in Adelaide, Australia, training women one-on-one in her parents' backyard. She noticed something: her clients didn't want complicated gym routines - they wanted simple, effective workouts they could do anywhere. When her 12-year-old cousin suggested she use Instagram to organise her clients' before-and-after photos, Kayla had no idea what the app even was. But within months, those transformation photos went viral. Women from around the world started asking for her workouts. Her then-boyfriend Tobi Pearce suggested turning her routines into a PDF ebook. In March 2013, they founded Bikini Body Training Company with $0 in funding. This was the beginning of Sweat.

The Execution:

The lesson? Kayla didn't try to reinvent fitness - she just made it accessible. A 28-minute workout, a PDF, and Instagram were all she needed to build a $400M empire. She bet that women wanted to feel strong, not starved, and built a global community around that belief. Sometimes the best businesses aren't clever - they're obvious.
